Think Tank

Tecmac has achieved another milestone by continuously releasing Tecmac-Watch since last one year. We crossed the 12 continuous issue mark and now looking for further improvement and enhancement.

Telecom market saw some hot shots from Communication minister in India. Its good that there is debate on ILD/NLD license issue because the outcome of such debate will give some fresh boost to the industry.

Mobile players have announced some fresh investments, Parent Hutch wants in Indian baby to be one of the most profitable player with advanced services. Shyam may be looking for some M&A finalization. BPL has already gone. So we may look on market movement positively.

In last month we saw a lot of activities in broadband sector but Tecmac still feels that approach has not settled with demand, it may be as the last mile is still with incumbent who is more interested in putting pipes than adding value based services. Cable is definitely a good via-media but it is unstructured and slow in movement.

Things are happening. Our industry is one of the most happening place to be. Be proud of it and be with us to  Dream Undreamt”.

1- Can increase in ARPU neutralize the decrease in net addition of subscribers for continuous growing growth rate in Telecom?

2- Tata Walky as WLL leader, good work or poor performance in a potential market?

3- Bulk sale of rated minutes. Are we going to have some business model on this segment in India?

4- Fiber vs Wireless. Where is horizon?

Headache Of The Year

Einstein invested his whole life in experiments, Edison lost himself in few components and Rishies spent their maximum time in search of GOD. We all enjoy the benefits extended by these  but most of us do not want to live like that. We’ve our own definition of life and few of us even criticize their way of loosing the so called pleasure of the materialistic world. Magic of this world is invent of those great minds as well as hearts still few of us laugh on them and their logic may be correct. This year we request you to think “What is that which makes few to spend whole life on something which takes them away from natural life?” What creates the difference between our ambitions, pleasures and imagination.

1- Its time for VAS and advanced applications. High ARPU may steal the show after 1 year.

2-Rural voice is dead but in next wave rural data may be a good proposition.

Telecom Investment-A look

Wireless Broadband

Wireless broadband is stealing the show. Multi-vendor multi- player and multi-operator regime has given birth to further innovation in quality services. Wireless media has continuously improved its QoS and technology whereas wired world still face problems which revolve around human touch. But the penetration of wired network makes it still a strong market. People want freedom and it comes through wireless but wireless world needs upfront investment from customer side which makes high entry barrier. Operators and vendors need to look on this aspect to make the whole business more attractive. Its incumbent lobby which concentrates more on wired world and the basic advantage which they have is that the investment and network is old enough to say that they extracted the depreciation cost. Now they need to look on only operating expenses and a little bit of fresh investment. This provides them a better pricing opportunity and makes them attractive. But in long run there is some inclination towards wireless which is dominated by competitive lobby. It was easy to say but not easy to do because never forget the driving force of Telecom i.e. vendor. Its innovative work of vendor which rules the market and they are here to sell more and more. They may drive the market further. .
